I have returned from my favorite eye doc meeting in Atlanta, SECO International. I sat through a record for me 16 hours of continuing education. Actually learned a few things!!
Aside from excellent education courses, the meeting has an enormous exhibit hall for us to research and buy new things for the office. Anyone that’s been a patient or visited my office knows I have plenty of high tech equipment, so my goal this year was to improve our selection of eye wear. I bought a new line that will be coming in April that I’m keeping under my hat for now but it’s going to be HUGE. My guess is I’ll have trouble keeping them in stock.
I am considering but struggling with the idea of bringing in Oakley’s. They have both sun and regular glasses (ophthalmics) that are super cool. I know they are wildly popular but there’s a couple of reasons I’ve resisted buying them. One, they are owned by Luxottica which also owns Lenscrafters. Is that a good business decision? Second, they would compete with my sunglass line that I feel is optically superior, Maui Jim. Then again, these two lines may be for two distinctly different buyers. Decisions, decisions.
So what do you guys think? Yes or No to Oakley’s?
